What is YEP ?

The YEP website is a fresh and innovative way of interacting with people especially young people. It not only serves a signposting hub for advice and contacts for organisations and activities on the borough it also shows the impact and effect the YEP has on the community of Enfield and allows the community and anyone interested of getting involved the access to keep in touch with what is going on.

We currently have a number of young people attending our half term programmes which includes multi-sports such as football, rugby, cricket and basketball it also does diverse activities such as nail art, hair styling, break-dancing & unicycle training amongst other things which keeps the young people occupied and have something to look forward to in their holidays.

The YEP studio offers them opportunities to record some positive music and learn how to do basic sound engineering, producing and recording for themselves. We encourage people of musical talent from any background to learn the ropes and have a positive influence on their peers showing you don't have to go down the illegal routes to make something of yourself.

The website has recently been revamped and within the next few months will be introducing monthly themes around issues that affect young people, short sketches and a comic strip exclusive to the YEP along with a blogging show that will be interacting with people live in the community.

In conclusion the website is the gateway for all ages and different communities to interact with us at the touch of a button, have an opportunity to get involved with us and connect with the Youth Engagement Panel... If your on a "bad boy flex" then change the channel.. or website in this case. www.yepenfield.com

The Youth Engagement Panel was set up in 2008 in light of the spate of youth violence and worst of all murders that took place in and around Edmonton over the last few years

The Panel consists of young people and adults of various nationalities who reside in the local community, all of which have received training to enable them to hold drop in advice sessions and workshop’s at various locations throughout the borough.

Our aim is to engage with all young people who feel they are unable to talk to their elders or the police or any other person they see as being in authority regarding all manor of issues which affect our youth, issues such as crime, drug abuse, bullying, unemployment, gangs, sexual health etc, all of which are having negative effects on young people as well as our wider communities.

Our job is to facilitate, support, listen and provide sound information and advice or refer them to the correct organisation for further help with whatever issues they have, should we need to.

We also represent the young people of Enfield, raising awareness of youth issues at various panels, conferences and forums with the sole purpose of the authorities hearing our voice and being more aware of the issues that young people in the borough face, in the hope that it will inform decisions regarding young people for the better.
