A FREE 6 week training course to help you get back into work…

…it’s as easy as 1,2,3

STEP 1

Am I eligible for the free training?

If the following applies to you, then you can join the course:

  • I am over 19 years old
  • I have been unemployed for 6 months

STEP 2

What will I do on the 6 week course?

  1. During the first two weeks you will work individually with an advisor who will help you prepare to get back into work. They will look at your skills, help you to prepare your CV, arrange a mock interview and support you with searching for job opportunities.
  2. Once you have completed this two week programme you gain a BTEC Award in WorkSkills qualification.
  3. The next four weeks will provide you with a taster of the skills you need to work in your chosen industry. You can choose from 11 different options.
  4. You can add your new qualification and skills to your CV

Business and Service Skills Choices

Customer Service

Most businesses need staff with expertise in customer service. Many industries require people for customer facing roles. You will be working towards an NVQ in Customer Service.

IT

Many jobs these days require a good level of IT skills. During your course you will carry out an in-depth assessment of your existing IT skills and study for the Word Processing unit.

Business Administration

There are possibilities of employment in a whole range of industries for people with business administration skills. During your course you will be introduced to the Business Administration qualification and work towards one of the units – Using IT Systems.

Teaching and Learning

If you are interested in becoming a trainer, teacher or workplace assessor within adult education or the community sector, then this course will start you off on the basic teaching qualification - Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTTLS).

Accounting and Finance This course will introduce you to a nationally recognized accounting qualification and you will work towards one of the qualification units - Bookkeeping to Trial Balance.

Vocational and Trade Skills Choices

Motor Vehicles – Maintenance and Body Repair

If you are interested in working within the motor vehicle industry and would like to gain a qualification in either vehicle maintenance or body repair then this course will introduce you to these skills. You will be able to work towards either the Vehicle Repair unit or the Panel Preparation and Repair unit which will eventually lead to the IMI Technical Certificate/NVQ qualification.

Electrical Trade

You will have an induction into the Level 2 Electrotechnical Technology Certificate and work towards one of the units - Working Effectively and Safely in an Electrotechnical Environment.

Health and Social Care

This course will offer an introduction to the NVQ in Health and Social Care and you will work towards one of the units - Developing Communication Skills for Care.

Childcare

If you would like to work within the childcare sector, then this course will introduce you to the NVQ2 Children’s Care, Learning and Development qualification. You will work towards units in Developing Skills for Working with Children and Developing through Play.

Catering and Hospitality

If you would like to learn to cook professionally, or would like to work within the hospitality industry, then this course will help you towards a basic qualification. You will be able to choose to work towards one of the units needed, either Prepare and Cook a Range of Dishes or Provide Table and Drinks Service.

Nationally recognised qualification enables successful candidates to independently lead small groups of people in sport and recreational activities.
